The new short film SYMBIOSIS from Flyin' Monkey Films, is currently competing in the annual Halloween festival from DVXUser.com "Sacrefest".
Principal photography on this new short film wrapped in early October after a one day shoot at an office location in Toronto. Additional scenes were filmed in the following days and ADR (Automatic Dialog Recording or dubbing) was recorded shortly after the rough edit was completed.
Ace composer Rob Sbar was brought in to produce the amazing and gripping score that brings the film to life. Other musical elements include the original song "For Tha Money" from Canadian hip-hop artist Bubba Sean. The audio mix-down from sound-designer Alan Chang further works to complement the film.
Scarefest was officially closed for entries on Friday October 28th and viewing began on the following Monday: Halloween.
Reviews on Symbiosis have been mixed with some praising the collaboration between writer Chris Keaton and director Rodney V. Smith.

Producers Smith and Keaton plan to extend and re-edit SYMBIOSIS following Scarefest for entry into more mainstream festivals. "DVXFests have always been a great place to get no-holds-barred feedback on a short film," says Smith. "Criticism coming from fellow filmmakers who are notoriously picky about what they enjoy and who will not hesitate to tell you what they didn't enjoy and why. That's valuable information for any filmmaker."
Composer Rob Sbar is now on board to score the music for the new short film SYMBIOSIS.
This collaboration between Sbar and director Smith will mark the 4th project the air have worked on together since 2010. Sbar has scored the promotional video for the "Dominion" webseries as well as the music for the episodes and trailers for Dominion. He has also most recently worked on the short film "Manipulation" by Maro Corry, on which Smith worked as the Director of Photography.
